Family portrait photography start with a new born with mom and dad and graduate in time to generational family reunion photography. Family portraits can be in studio and out on-location. These type pictures are in fact a lot of fun and can be full of activity.

The huge majority of digital photographers don’t deviate from a relatively few number of familiar poses they have used throughout the years. Unfortunately, anything used repeatedly within a creative activity like photography, has a tendency to get stale.

With family photography we the photographer have a lot of different things we can do to make your experience one to treasure. Special settings to enhance the subject or incorporate that special background. From an in-studio posed shot to an action filled outdoor session.  It is only limited by imagination.

From the serious to the fun family portrait it does not have to be rigid. We will arrange the scene but request input from the client before the shot. Whether dealing with children or adults, we want them agree on a scene they like, and then move into it. This is with posed and the scene has a lot of action to it. 

For the on-location shoot we use natural framing to enhance the shot. There are many opportunities to position our clients so they appear framed by tree branches, a hole in a rock, or any open structure like a gazebo.

We look for that candid “natural” photograph to eliminate rigidly of a posed in-studio or on-location shot.

As with any photography lighting is critical. In studio lighting is no problem as we have a full complement of state-of-the-art studio lighting. For on-location sessions we bring the studio lighting to you using multiple lighting solutions from DC powered studio lighting to  reflector use for that enhanced quality look.
